The association

The Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners unites shipowners wants to present a united front to protect and promote their common interests at national, European and on a global level. The shipping industry consists of several sub-sectors. Shipping companies affiliated to the KVNR are those with operations in merchant shipping or commercial shipping and sea towage. Fishing and recreational shipping do not fall under the KVNR's representation.

The board is responsible for policy-making. The KVNR office is policy preparatory and executing. The board consists of up to 14 members and elects a chairman and vice-chairman among its members.

The Klimp appointed new Chairman of the KVNR

Theo Klimp of shipping company Royal Wagenborg was today appointed new chairman of the Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners (KVNR). During the general meeting of the shipowners' association in the Maas building of football stadium De Kuip, the man from Groningen took over the gavel from outgoing chairman Jan Valkier (shipping company Anthony Veder).
