Today, after a week of climate negotiations in London, the member states of the UN International Maritime Organisation postponed the meeting to discuss the proposal to globally price greenhouse gas emissions from seagoing ships by one year.

The Dutch Shipowners' Association (KVNR) is deeply disappointed that it has not been possible to agree on a global approach at this stage, which would have prevented a patchwork of regional measures such as the . ‘This should have been the culmination of a years-long process to accelerate the sustainability of the sector, while ensuring a level playing field worldwide.
